Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker review

There is nothing worse than trying to play your music only to find that you cannot get the volume loud enough.

The louder you go on your phone or computer, the worse the sound quality gets. It’s a problem we all experience, but we don’t have to deal with it anymore. For just $40 you can get the Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker.

Best Features of Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

The original SoundCore was really well liked, but when Anker got feedback on it, they wanted to improve. That led to the creation of this second model, which upgraded and fixed any issues customers had with the first model. The first thing they did was upgrade the audio. There are now 2 6W high performance drivers for clearer and deeper sound. It comes with a bigger bass thanks to the trademark Bass Up technology that Anker always uses. The battery life is also incredible. With other speakers you’ll be lucky to get 12 hours of battery life, but this one comes with a 24 hour battery playtime. It’s rechargeable, so you never have to run to the store to pick up more batteries. It’s really portable, and it’s easy to take with you. It’s also water resistant and dust proof so that it won’t be getting dirty while you’re out adventuring.

What’s Included

When you order this speaker you’ll get the Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, the micro USB charging cable, a welcome guide, an 18 moth warranty, and amazing customer service.

Pros of Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

This speaker is really unique because it has a classic but redesigned look so that it is a vintage modern piece. It will please the masses for its minimalistic design, and it could fit in any household décor without any issues. Many users were pleasantly surprised at how well the speaker played. The sound was deep and rich, and no matter what type of music was being played, it sounded great.

Cons of Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Some users experienced a drop in sound quality if the Bluetooth connection wasn’t a really strong connection.

Final Verdict

This Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker is a steal at $40. Most models are going for three times this price when they have the same features, but this one is budget friendly. Even though it doesn’t cost a lot, it plays just as well as the speakers being advertised for over $100 right now.

Top customer review of  Anker SoundCore 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

When Anker’s SoundCore 2 went on sale, I immediately made the purchase so that I could compare an Anker Bluetooth speaker with those from other manufacturers. Anker is a well-known brand producing quality products. My expectations were high.
Packaging
The SoundCore 2 came in a white and light blue box with black and light blue text on the outside. Inside the box, wrapped in velvety plastic, was the speaker secured by cardboard on all but the top parts. With the speaker were the user guide, “Happy/Not Happy” card and an Anker-branded charging cable inside its own smaller box. Packaging was professional.
Pairing and Controls
Pairing the SoundCore 2 with an iPhone 7 Plus was a breeze. Shortly after turning the speaker on, “SoundCore 2” appeared on my phone. A couple of seconds after I tapped the name, paring was successful, confirmed by tone. The controls are located at the top of the speaker. They include the power, – (minus), play, + (plus) and Bluetooth buttons. The + and – buttons are used for adjusting volume. The play button is a multi-function button that can be used to pause/resume playback, accept/reject/end calls as well as putting the current call on hold while accepting another call. Additionally, the play button can also be used to switch a call between speaker and mobile device. On one of the sides are the auxiliary and micro USB charging ports.
Performance

When it concerns speakers, the most essential aspect for me is sound quality recreation. Anker’s SoundCore 2 didn’t dissatisfy. Vocals by a basso singer were smooth. Middle frequencies produced by a flute and a clarinet were clear and enjoyable. High frequencies from an acoustic guitar were crisp and extremely gratifying.

The noise of a bass drum was someplace between a “punch” and a “boom.” Using an equalizer app got the bass drum closer to a boom however not there. This is a location where the speaker might utilize an enhancement when it concerns sound quality recreation.

The SoundCore 2 is loud. At optimum volume, it quickly filled my 20- feet x 20- feet garage with noise. Bluetooth variety was fantastic. With no blockage between the speaker and my phone, noise didn’t cutoff till both had to do with 100 feet apart, producing the very best Bluetooth series of all speakers I have actually checked to this day.

Telephone call were clear. The speaker has the capability to put an existing contact hold while responding to another inbound call. I have yet to see this function on other Bluetooth speakers. There is one function that prevails with the majority of speakers I have actually checked however not present with the SoundCore 2 which is the capability to call the last number called on the phone the speaker is coupled with. This would typically be a double press of the play button however this action is designated to avoid to the next track. I discovered this to be unexpected originating from an Anker item.

In addition to call the last number called, I was likewise shocked by the failure to go to the previous track. Unless I missed this in the user guide, this performance is not present.

As currently pointed out, the speaker has the capability to allow voice control software application such as Siri on iOS gadgets. This is the 2nd speaker I have actually checked to include this good function.

Pros

Long lasting and rugged building and construction.
Excellent noise recreation.
• Loud.
• Comprehensive user guide in 9 languages.
Remarkable Bluetooth variety.
• Advanced call answering functions.
Capability to allow voice triggered software application (Siri with iOS).
• Anker- branded charging cable television.

Cons

Cannot go to previous track.
Cannot call the last number called.
• No auxiliary cable television.

Conclusion

In spite of the small peculiarities pointed out in my review, the pros far exceed the cons making the SoundCore 2 an outstanding option for a Bluetooth speaker in the $46(cost at the time of review) variety. Comparable speakers I have actually checked are the Meidong 2110 and the Meidong QQChocolate Medium. While these 2 speakers are more precise in regards to sound quality recreation, they are not as loud as the SoundCore2 If volume is more vital, you cannot fail with the SoundCore2 Nevertheless, if sound quality recreation is more vital, have a look at the Meidong speakers. I needed to change in between all 3 speakers while composing this review to make sure that my conclusions are as precise as possible.

Anker SoundCore vs SoundCore 2

This is a slightly different review than most are probably expecting but I don’t have another brand or unit of this class to compare it to but the following is of my experience comparing the original SoundCore to the SoundCore 2.

My first bluetooth speaker…so far the only flaws I’ve noticed in sound have been more to do with the nature of bluetooth than the actual speaker. if you just use the aux cable it’s a consistently good sound. When it has a nice solid connection or using the aux cable it puts out great volume and depth for its size.

Buy it but read up about the Bluetooth pairing problem

 on December 14, 2017
By Dallas
I had given this five stars but I’m knocking two stars off because of the Bluetooth pairing issue. Each time you want to pair it up with a new device, you have to forget it on the old device and then add it to the new device and so on for every new device. . So, there are three different devices I would use it with, I have to disconnect it, forget it and then add it to the new device. That is kind of a pain in the butt to do. If you have only one device you’re going to Pair it with, then this wouldn’t be an issue.

Horrible Auto Volume Leveling Ruins Music

 on June 25, 2017
By Jacob
This Anker speaker has a nice build quality and excellent battery life, but that’s where the positives end for me. My copy of the speaker had extremely aggressive auto volume leveling that would boost quiet parts of songs and soften loud parts, completely removing any dynamic range and making it essentially useless for music.

Awesome

OK I currently own 2 anker older 24hr speaker, I use it for work at Costco I work the grave yard it’s nice and loud and the battery literally last all week long never failed, I just received the Sound Core 2 now my issues with this is the blue tooth seems to be weaker then the original which is an issue. The Bass is good but not as Good as the Sony XB30 you’ll hear and notice the difference and its huge now as for loudness and sound quality the sound core 2 rocks and its even better now with the water resistant but my only gripe is if your gonna make it water proof why not add drop protection by making it more rugged.. The four stars is for Blue Tooth issues because if you can’t rely on the blue tooth to work then the speaker itself is kinda useless

Another Great Speaker from Anker

Improved Sound Worse Battery Life

 on August 12, 2017
By Abu Ibrahim
I owned the original SoundCore and loved it so much that I decided to upgrade to this model. The sounds clarity and bass is definitely improved, I am not an audiophile but I appreciate good sound having worked in the nightlife industry for a few years. My only con which for me is decent because I ranted and raved about the battery life of the original to my friends and this one after a full charge when I got it lasted for only half as long as the original while impressive still was disappointing.

Nice upgrade over the original Soundcore.

The Soundcore 2 is a nice upgrade over the original. The original was nice and sounded okay. But its only real redeeming points for me was its amazing battery life, small size and clear mid tones. I eventually gave the original soundcore away.
