Jabra Freeway Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone Review

With all the laws concerning cellphones these days, the last thing you want to be caught doing is making a call while driving. Well, at least making a call while the phone is in your hand! A lot of cars are now equipped with a nice speaker that can announce the caller ahead of time and then you can speak without the need for your hands or touching any other buttons. However, not all cars have this feature. Thankfully, if your car wasn’t equipped with the latest and greatest, you still don’t need to break the law. Shocking! You can actually buy an aftermarket speaker like this one made from Jabra. Jabra has been on the forefront of hands free calls since the dawn of time, and they did not skimp out when it came to this car speakerphone. If you need a speaker for your car to make and receive calls on, you just found the one you should buy.

Best Features  of Jabra Freeway

This is a speakerphone that is really easy to install into your car. It has a really rich and crisp sound from three different speakers and virtual surround sound. You can use your voice to make and take calls without having to press any buttons, and it will also announce the name of whomever is calling you. There is A2DP streaming for music, podcasts, and even directions. It’s also equipped with an FM transmitter to send music and calls from your phone to the car radio. It doesn’t need to be charged often as it comes with 14 hours of talk time, and 40 days worth of standby time or podcasts and GPS directions. There is an auto on and off so you don’t need to worry about turning it off. Two different devices can be connected via Bluetooth at once, and there’s dual microphone background and noise reduction technology that comes with it.

Pros

This is really easy to use because it just uses the FM transmitter in your car. Considering it has almost 40 days of battery life, you won’t have to fuss over it often. However, you can also recharge the battery. Many users expressed how nice it is that it comes with a car charger, so you don’t have to physically take it out when you need to charge it. The sound quality is very good according to the past users.

Cons

Some users have expressed that the speaker is a bit big. It can fit in multiple places in the car, but most chose to put it up on the mirror or sun blocker. It’s the size of your hand, so it does take up a considerable amount of space.

Final Verdict

For just about $50, this is a great buy. You’ll feel like your car was suddenly updated with the newest technology, and it does make your drive a lot safer. Without the need to pull out your phone, you can focus on the road.

If your car doesn’t have bluetooth this is a great work around!

This is actually my second one, I think I wore out my previous one after nearly seven years it lived it the car even in the heat of summer. It is by far one of my favorite purchases ever. I have a care that does not have bluetooth, nor does it have a way for me to connect my phone to the car stereo. I commute to work, and while I enjoy listening to the radio, I sometimes would prefer to do other things. This speakerphone allows me to listen to my text messages, make and receive calls, and allows me to play audiobooks. Since it sits directly above my head I am able to speak normally. The functions are very easy to find so I don’t have to look, I can navigate by feel if necessary. Like most Jabra products it was incredibly easy to set up with my iPhone and get started. I can also have it connect to the car stereo so I can listen to audio books or music through my car’s speaker system. The range on this thing is pretty amazing. If I am home and forget to turn it off, my audio on my phone gets routed to the car! It’s somewhat humorous when I try to listen to an audiobook and my husband comes back into the house and tells me that the car is playing my book. The battery lasts for a long time, I think I’ve only had to charge it like three times in two months. It gets used for an hour and half five to six days a week. It is a great little loud device and highly recommend it. I will say that it does occasionally have trouble with the connection to the radio, but I don’t think it has anything to do with the device, I think it depends on the signal strength and what stations are available when using the over-the-air waves.

High quality bluetooth speaker for your phone with a few quirks.

While not cheap, the Jabbra FREEWAY delivers excellent audio quality for phone calls, which is my primary requirement. I bought it because I have a ten-year old SUbaru that is still very servicable, but wanted a quality bluetooth hands-free setup for my iPhone. It’s interface is simple, it pairs easily with my iPhone 6s, and the microphone seems pretty good at noise reduction – callers say my voice quality is on a par with other built-in bluetooth systems in newer cars.

I must say, within the first week, I fully expected to return this unit. I’m going to go a little off topic to tell you that my “Go-to” headsets are the

Contrary to what others may say, the sound quality is very good. The only thing I do not like is that when I leave the car and I’m in the house the Bluetooth on my phone wants to connect with the Jabra Freeway and answer calls. I will not have sound on my phone until I shut off the Bluetooth connection. If you are looking for a Bluetooth system for your vehicle that does not have one, I would highly recommend this product.

Bought 2 for handsfree calling in older cars without bluetooth based on reviews, returning both!

My older SUV does not have bluetooth, had been using a Blueant S4 very happily for several years until it stopped working. It is no longer being made, so searched for alternatives. Came across the Jabra Freeway, all the very positive reviews persuaded me that it would be the perfect replacement, sadly I was very disappointed!

I received this as a gift after my old Jabra started losing its volume and dropping calls (I had it for five years). I love this thing and can’t drive without it (both because it’s convenient and because use of a phone without a hands free device is illegal in my area).

This is just the set-up I needed!

Well, I may “love it” after awhile, but I’m a skeptical older lady, and don’t fall “in love” easily. So, I’d really give it a four and a half.

I originally bought the Motorola Roadster hands-free visor and it was terrible. It had been recommended by Verizon reps, retailing for $99. Sound quality was terrible, like a tin can and everyone asked me to repeat myself. The voice command was so irritating, too. Anyway, moving on to the Jabra Freeway. I bought it from Amazon because the price was so much better (about $70 vs. $130 retail at Verizon). This device is a charm. It is discrete, intuitive, and recognizes my device. Voice clarity is very good. The battery life is excellent. The only complaint I have is getting used to its great bluetooth reception. I have taken phone calls outside my car, only to realize that the Jabra picked it up on the bluetooth INSIDE the car. So glad I switched to this device.

I don’t understand all the great reviews of this

I don’t understand all the great reviews of this. Either these people got a different product or Jabra’s quality control is bad. It works passably as a speakerphone, though I definitely hear a lot of Bluetooth artifacts when I’m calling someone with it, and it can be hard to understand the person talking sometimes. I never expected a speakerphone in a car to sound great, and this probably does as well as can be expected.
