JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Have you ever wished you could get your music louder when you’re playing it through your phone?
Or maybe you’re throwing an outdoor BBQ and it is really hard to hear the music that’s playing back inside the house?
All of these issues could easily be fixed with a portable speaker. A good quality portable speaker is easy to take with you anywhere you go, and the sound quality is supreme if you get the right one.
One of the best brands out there for portable speakers is a brand called JBL. They’ve been in the business for years, and their line of speakers are really high quality and easy to use. Thankfully, they also don’t break the bank.
One of their lines, the Charge, has been around for quite some time. The JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker is one of the favorites among portable speaker users, and for good reason.
At $120, it is in the mid priced to expensive range, but the features it comes with is far worth the cost. Keep reading to see why this speaker lives up to all the hype.
Best Features of JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker
Forget about any wires that you might think that a portable speaker needs to connect to your phone or tablet. Thankfully, the JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker is all Bluetooth enabled. It connects to up to three phones or tablets at a time.
This is useful because you don’t have to take a long pause in music if someone else wants to take a turn streaming their tunes. It comes with a rechargeable battery, so you’ll never need to run to the store to pick up more.
When it is fully charged, you can expect up to 20 hours of playtime. Also, the speaker is waterproofed with IPX7 waterproofing, meaning you can completely submerge it and it will still be fine!
The speaker can also be used for conference calls because it has a built in microphone. With the touch of a button you can enable the noise and echo cancelling speakerphone to make calls. If you want an even louder sound, you can connect multiple of these speakers using the JBL connect feature.
This speaker has a much higher sound quality than most of the other speakers currently available right now. The sound is clear, and you won’t experience any fuzziness no matter what the volume is. Also, the battery charge lasts significantly longer than other speakers. Most last anywhere from 8-12 hours, but you’ll get 20 hours out of this one.
The only downside is the price. Comparable speakers run about the same, but it might be more than some people were hoping to spend. It’s definitely worth the cost though.
You don’t get much better than JBL speakers, and the Charge 3 in black doesn’t disappoint. The color matches any décor you might have, and it also makes a perfect gift for someone you care about. Give yourself the gift of music!

JBL Charge 3 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker Review & Sound Test vs Bose Soundlink Mini
what’s up guys Paul here
I got the JBL charge three portable bluetooth speaker here with me today
so I’m going to unbox it and take a closer look at it what it’s capable of doing or how it looks in real life now this week er was just released a few weeks ago as you probably aware of and it currently sells for 150 US dollars it does come in five different colors you can get it in a black one a blue one a red one a teal and a grey one.
now today I got the black one here with me and this speaker just because of its price range I think is going to be very popular amongst people because it fits into the category of speakers alongside with the Bose Soundlink mini the UE boom – the Reba s and all of those speakers are definitely a lot more expensive than the charge tree and this speaker does have features that the other speakers don’t have and we’ll take a look at it in just a second so let’s take it out of the box and see exactly what we have in here and so the first thing we have on top here is discharge 3 lid and this is nothing else but just a foam lid to protect the speaker and here is the charge 3.
As you can see the first impression when you look at this vigor it looks a lot like it’s bigger brother the JBL extreme but in a smaller version behind this flap here we have a microUSB charger cables you’re gonna be able to charge us from us resources and a USB charger as you can see this one here with a u.s. 5 plug but you don’t necessarily have to use this you’re able to charge us with there from any USB source and we also have the manual and that’s pretty much what we have in the box here as it taking a closer look at the speaker you can see that the buttons are laid out the exact same way as it was on the extreme of all the controls on top of the speaker
now one button that I want to mention is the JBL connect right here and this will allow you to connect the speaker to other JBL connect enabled devices so it doesn’t necessarily have to be another JBL charge 3 it could be the extreme for instance so you’re able to double them off the same way you can do it with the UE boom or the Reba S and you’ll be able to play a left and right speakers or separate it so it will give you a bigger louder sound.
As you can see the speaker is covered by this black nylon – material that wraps around the whole speaker and this is waterproof the speaker is rated ipx7 that means that you’re able to drop the speaker into water and it can be submerged up to one meter deep for thirty minutes and it will still not be damaged by the water on the front we have the JBL logo on this orange background that lands if we continue down to the bottom you can see that there’s this kickstand that protrudes out of the body and on this kickstand we have five little dots on the front here and these are our LEDs and this will indicate the amount of charge left in the internal battery the speaker does come with the six thousand milliamp lithium-ion battery which is a super powerful battery for a size of speaker like this and because of this JBL actually allows other components like your iPhone or Android devices to be charged from the speaker because of its large battery so we have a USB port right here for an output just to charge your external devices
Also we have the microUSB port right here in the middle that you’ll be able to charge the internal battery through and then we have a 3.5 millimeter auxiliary mini jack input so if you have devices that don’t have bluetooth connectivity no worries you can be able to connect it to the speaker with a mini jack now also this little flap here as you can see it shuts closed on the speaker and this will keep the water out it has little gaskets that go around the edge here so you got to make sure that this gets closed properly before you drop it into the water on the two ends of the speaker you can see the big JBL logos and this is not only here for looks but these are our passive radiators on both sides and this will increase the bass response of the speaker and give it that nice deep bass all right so that’s the speaker
Let’s start it all let’s connect it to my device and let’s test it out all right so what I’m going to do is I’m going to connect my phone to the speaker but let me just show you one thing before I do if I power to speaker on it makes that sound so the speaker has sound effects and right now you can see that the power button is glowing and white on top also if I turn the speaker you can see that there’s the five LEDs on the bottom right now glowing white so that means that there’s approximately hi percent charge left in the internal battery
To power to speaker off I’m going to just press them quickly it makes that sound again and ever how it’s off let’s power it back on and connect to the phone please wait for that sound I’m going to press on the Bluetooth connect button clearly and you’re just going to start making that sound and also you can see that the power button is now flashing blue indicating that it’s ready to connect also on the screen it comes up as JBL charged tree so i’m going to select it and it makes that sound also you can see that now the power button is lit up blue on top indicating that is connected to your device alright so we’re going to do a short little sound comparison verses to both styling mini I chose the both side of me because I believe that most of you already know what this speaker sounds like since it’s been out on the market for a little while and this way you can have the best idea of what the JBL 3 could sound like in real life so let’s do a quick comparison make sure to put on a good pair of headphones to get the most out of this test all right so as you guys heard the charge tree sounds just outstanding there’s really nothing bad I can say about this speaker
To even further test this what I’m going to do like I have done in the past I’m going to create these comparison videos and it’s going to be strictly testing where I’m going to put the JBL charge tree up against other leading brand speakers and play them side-by-side so you can be able to hear what it sounds like versus the competition and then you can decide if you like the speaker or not so if you’re interested make sure to come back to the channel because I will be posting those videos up soon alright so let’s talk about some of the pros and the cons of the speaker and the first thing in the pros Department I need to mention is the price of the charge tree for 150 bucks the amount of features that the speaker gives you
I don’t think you’re going to get it from any other speaker out there on the market it is fully waterproof so you don’t need an external case to protect it you can take this to the beach with you drop it in the water in the sand and then just rinse it off and you’re good to go again so that’s a very big plus also it has a six thousand milliamp built-in battery it’s enough power to play the speaker for 20 hours and then still charge your external devices from the internal battery I mean if you take an iPhone it has less than 2,000 miliamp battery so you’re able to recharge it at least two to three times if just you know using it as a power bank alone another thing that you can double up the speaker with the JBL connects so you’ll be able to have two of these speakers separate them 810 feet away from each other and you can be able to create such a big sound that you will be surprised especially if you hope the speaker up with a JBL extreme and have an extreme and the charge playing at the same time
I think that’s going to create an extremely good sound now some of the cons that I need to mention and there’s really not many but I think there’s a few things that I dislike about the speaker and the first thing that this nylon mesh material just tends to catch dust particles you can see there’s like a white dot right there and there’s a few of them around here that it’s very hard to get out
I’m not sure why it’s getting caught in there so much but I couldn’t even like vacuum it out and I couldn’t rinse it off I was trying both things so I’m not sure how bad is gonna react if you’re going to put sand on it I’m not sure if the sent particle is gonna get caught up inside it or not I guess you’re gonna have to test it for yourself to see how that reacts to it another thing is that the speaker is very unidirectional so having the speaker firing different directions away from you it doesn’t sound nearly as good as if you stand right in front of it so if you wanna have a speaker that has a nice full all-around sound then you can have to go with something like the UE boom because that creates 360-degree sound and this doesn’t but if you get two of these speakers you can set it up in a way that you can be able to I guess maybe put it back to back and it creates a bigger sound in either direction but having the speaker playing sideways it doesn’t sound nearly as good as having it playing right towards you it’s not a big deal but I still think that it’s something that needs to be mentioned.
I have had it for 7 weeks and now it’s …
A must have!
Fantastic Speaker for the price.
Highly Recommend this Speaker!
Two is better than one- but not really.
Great for Float Trips
