Pros

This speaker is really unique. Even though the color is silver, the middle of the speaker is made up of deep reds and yellows and oranges throughout. It delivers 360 degree sound, so you won’t have any part of the room that is missing music. You can use it for more than just playing music, and it’s really easy to take with you wherever you go. It weighs just one pound, and it can easily fit in your bag without you noticing it at all.

Cons

Some users have had problems with the battery not holding a charge after a few uses.

Final Verdict

Overall, this is a fun speaker that will delight a crowd. The color effects are really cool and fun, and it will light up the darkness if you’re having a party outside at night. It’s definitely unique, and it is as much as an entertainment piece as it is a speaker. It delivers some amazing sound.

JBL Pulse 2 Portable Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker Review

User review of  JBL Pulse 2 Portable Splashproof Bluetooth Speaker

“This thing is awesome. I ordered once and got a defective one but the replacement is fantastic. Primarily I use this in my kitchen via Bluetooth from my tablet, so I can hear things above the vent fan, running water, and frying/cooking. It is in a corner under a cabinet, and the sound is amazing. You can hear it clearly and the – perceived- frequency response is amazing. I say perceived because anyone who expects true bass response from such small drivers is not thinking clearly.

The real challenge is about perception of dynamic range, and this is quite good. I also use it outside when doing yard work and it’s nothing short of amazing. It easily floods my 50′ x 35′ fenced backyard with good sound at 50% volume and plays loud enough to echo off the neighbors houses in the front, which is open to the street. In fact I would say it borders on nuisance volume, as I have had neighbors over 200 ft. away mention something.

Luckily they appreciated my taste in music. Again, it’s not a blasting sound, but spreads far and wide and is great for what it is designed for. I don’t have any problems with the power port but I am a reasonably careful person. I’ve had it playing outside for 5+ hours with less than 50% battery drain, and it charges just fine. The LED modes are OK. Nice to look at, especially at night. The background color sampling is a cool idea but not worth much really. Contrary to other people’s assertions, there is an “equalizer” mode that changes with the sound. It’s just a little behind because it’s actually listening to itself to produce the effect.

You can tell because if you leave it in this mode with nothing connected, it will detect noise in the room and react to it. The speakerphone function is great. I’ve used it from 12 feet away and the other end reported the sound was excellent, as though I was on the handset. People who are having problems with bluetooth connectivity are a mystery to me. I have connected to it with windows and android tablets and phones with no problems. My only real complaint is that the volume controls are not palpable.

You really have to look at the back to change the volume on the unit. Windows devices allow you to control the volume independently from the actual volume on the unit, while Android controls the unit volume directly.

So it’s not too much of a problem but is annoying. It’s too bad they don’t make this any more. The new version got a lot of hype but is far behind on release. I say buy while you still can.”

JBL Pulse 2 – demo and soundcheck

I would like to present you the JBL pulse tool and I already regretted that I haven’t presented it before my wife and my son both fell in love with the speaker my wife even claimed that this is the best speaker I’ve owned so far and I really owned many more than hundred.

she also claimed that this is the only speaker she would have ever bought it’s not only because of the sound quality but particularly because of the nice light effects it has if we look at the packaging this is already pretty unique.

it has some kind of lenticular effect if you tilt the box you’ll you see that there are some moving effect so really nicely done and this the special of that pulse is of course it’s light show let’s turn it on and I will darken the room slightly so that we can see this better so what you see here is the fire effect the effects can of course be changed directly through the speaker with this light button here this is the Stars effect or the speaker of course comes with an own app.

the JBL connect app which is also used for all the other JBL speakers I hope it’s visible and here we have the JBL pulse tool and we can switch between different effects for example fire again you also have different options for each effect I can make it larger.

this is the large version we can make that fire even smaller and some effects come with an own sound effect as well here is the fire effect it sounds like that.

yeah if we turn on volume turn up volume or down you can see it shows you the correct loudness level then we have of course rain also with different effects this is light rain medium rain or heavy rain we have how is this column English fireflies yeah what here we can paint them then we have stars and I think it’s really pretty nice you can use the speaker simply as some kind of ambient light or something

you can also I think what can be done here here meet yours what we have the fireworks this comes without sound of course what’s nice about the fireworks effect is that you can if you do more two more you can see a heart appearing yeah you can see it here or there is a scent clock yeah this is not that impressive but you can even hasn’t a timer we have five meter I don’t know what happens after five minutes if it turns off or something then we have traffic and an on canvas where you can well paint but it doesn’t work that well because the resolution of the of these LED lights is not but you can see if we try painting across it should appear more or less as cross.

well it doesn’t look that well and after some time it disappears again but let’s try let’s try again maybe a heart it’s not that easy come on yeah let’s see if we it’s not that visible or you cannot recognize it as hard and of course all these effects don’t are not synchronized with music they simply play back like that but of course we have also an equalize effect and this of course works well with music I mean it is more or less sync in sync also here we can make it either small or large there is a wave effect as well which is also in sync with the music more or less so the effects are really really nice and as I already said my wife tends to use it simply as an ambient light without any music and I think it works really well it can glow for several hours like this.

The sound is wonderful, the color effects are fun but I bought this in December and the battery must already be dying. We use this to listen to classical music during home school. It is moved to wherever we are. It seemed well suited to the job at first but now it has to be plugged in less than an hour after you turn it on. Although it works good when plugged in, that is not what I purchased it for and it’s frustrating to have something say it is wireless and then need the wire all the time. I do have to admit though, the sound out of this tiny device is fantastic. Better than I expected. Hope they get the battery problem figured out because I would like more of them. **After 4 months of use, the battery has died. It barely charges any more. I can’t return it. Because I bought it more than 60 days ago and honestly, I wish it worked still. The sound was great. But the battery sucks. No longevity at all.

Awesome sound! These are the best speakers we have purchased. We will be using them for press conferences, events, etc.

I’ve been using this speaker frequently since it arrived! The color light show are soft but vivid. There’s an app you can DL and it controls the light effects on the speaker. One feature I found on the app that doesn’t work all that well is the “canvas”, where you can doodle and it should show up on the speaker but it doesn’t show anything I drew.

Great sound, entertaining but lousy design

At first, It was a 5 stars since I was very happy with the product. It sounds great with deep base and the light show is very entertaining. in fact, i bought two within two months. Then i have discovered a major design flaw on both products: The charging connection is becoming loose to the point that we have to move it slightly for the unit to start charging and a simple movement of the speaker and it stops charging. In fact, we just lost complete charging capability now/ I’ll see with JBL what they can do since it should be under warranty. Hopefully, they have a good customer service. For that simple reason, i can’t recommend the product.

No Longer Charges Correctly

Really love the sound quality. Its a great outdoor and indoor speaker. Light and easy to travel with. The biggest thing is that it no longer charges right these last 3 months. I have to move the wire around quite a bit to get to charge. Sometimes it looks like its charging, i leave alone, come back and the charging indicator lights are off. I turn it on and it didnt charge at all. Its very frustrating to spend money on a product only to have it stop working after a few months. Extremely disappointed and i will not be buying any more of their products. I do not recommend purchasing it until theuly resolve this issue.

Good bass, good sound, long battery, nice light show. why not get one?

Its a great small room speaker. it has good bass, mids and highs. It has a good battery, and the lights are a nice gimick (if they actually worked with the music, it would be much more fun and entertaining (like a visual meter), but the random droning of the lights is just OK (no matter what pattern you choose, it is just random light movement, not connected to the music).

I have a friend who always throws the best parties and he has 2 or 3 of these constantly on and floating around the house and back patio. The lights add an awesome ambiance and the sound is just incredible. This speaker can play pretty loud, even when outside, and the sound is incredibly dynamic. When my hubby and I decided to get a bluetooth speaker, this was a no-brainer. We looked briefly at other options, but nothing else compared. I’d just warn that there isn’t really a great spot to hold onto the speaker without touching the perforations and potentially pushing dirt into them, so make sure your hands are clean and dry to keep it looking nice.

Awesome Speaker!

I don’t know why there are so many complaints and bad reviews! This speaker is lovely and works perfectly fine. I actually prefer the look of this one to the JBL Pulse 3. To get all the functions, you have to download the app, which also includes calming sounds like crashing waves at the beach, rain, crickets, etc. and also drawing light designs. The downside of the app is that it takes a long time to sync the speaker to Bluetooth, and your screen can’t go into sleep mode during the update. Apparently, there are also a lot of issues with the app as well, but it’s working fine for me. The speaker also didn’t come in a JBL box, just wrapped with bubble wrap and some instructions…maybe that’s why a lot of other buyers have scratched up speakers? I had it shipped with other items in the same Prime box, but I know if this is the only thing you’re purchasing, Amazon just packs it in a lightly padded manila envelope and calls it a day.

Very cool!!

This thing is awesome!! I got it for my 15 year old son for Christmas. He downloaded an app on his phone that allows him to control the speaker. He can change it to different light schemes, change the volume, etc. It is very easy to take- he took it to a Christmas party and played a plethora of Christmas music. I also love that it is semi waterproof, so he can take it with him when he showers, and I don’t have to worry about anything spilling on it. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to play music.
